The 2025 Scholarship acceptance

College is important for many reasons, including long-term financial gain, job stability, career satisfaction and success outside of the workplace. With more and more occupations requiring advanced education, a college degree or technical/trade certificate is critical to your success in today's workforce.
The SUTTER YUBA COMMUNITY FOUNDATION is proud to support the continuing education efforts of the students in our area. Through the generous donations of local philanthropic individuals and organizations, we offer several scholarship options for applicants to choose from. Each with unique qualifiers and benefits.
FRANK M. BOOTH Scholarship
New Apprentice Entering Trades
This is a one-time, up to $2,500 award to be granted to help cover the initiation fees, first year union dues, tools, books, protective equipment, etc. This scholarship is to be awarded from an endowment grant established by Frank M. Booth, Inc. for the dependents of current or retired Frank M. Booth employees.
Apply for a scholarship to cover the cost associated with joining either the Sheet Metal Workers Union (Local 104-2 or 104-1) or Plumber and Pipefitters Union (Local 228, 290, 38, 343,159, 342, 467, 447, 442, 393,246, or 62).
ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible for the scholarship, student applicants must:
1) Be a dependent of a current or retired Frank M. Booth, Inc. employee
2) Show proof of acceptance into an apprentice program
Application must be received by 5:00 pm (not postmarked by) March 19, 2025.
FRANK M. BOOTH Scholarship
GRADUATING HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR
This is a one-time, up to $5,000 award to be granted to a graduating high school senior. This scholarship is to be awarded from an endowment grant established by Frank M. Booth, Inc. for the dependents of current or retired Frank M. Booth employees.
ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible for the scholarship, student applicants must:
1) Be a dependent of a current or retired Frank M. Booth, Inc. employee
2) Be a graduating high school senior
3) Maintain a 2.5 GPA overall, and
4) Show proof of acceptance into a 2 or 4 year college or university
Application must be received by 5:00 pm (not postmarked by) March 19, 2025
FRANK M. BOOTH Scholarship
RENEWAL
This is a one-time, up to $5,000 award to be granted to a current college student attending a 2 or 4 year college or university (undergraduate or graduate program). This scholarship is to be awarded from an endowment grant established by Frank M. Booth, Inc. for the dependents of current or retired Frank M. Booth employees.
ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible for the scholarship, student applicants must:
1) Be a dependent of a current or retired Frank M. Booth, Inc. employee
2) Show proof of attendance at an accredited 2 or 4 year college or university, and
3) Maintain a 2.5 GPA overall
Application must be received by 5:00 pm (not postmarked by) March 19, 2025
John & Karin Jelavich Scholarship
This is a one-time, up to $1,000 award to be granted to a graduating high school senior to attend an accredited college or university.
This scholarship is to be awarded from an endowment grant donated by John and Karin Jelavich.
ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible for the scholarship, student applicants must:
1) be a graduating senior at a high school in the Sutter or Yuba area.
2) maintain a 2.5 GPA overall.
3) show proof of acceptance into a 2 or 4 year college or university.

SARAH JACKSON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
This is one-time $500 award to any Sutter Yuba graduating senior who plans to major in Education, English or Liberal Studies. Sarah E. Jackson taught English and Business courses at Yuba City High School from September 1978 until her retirement in June 1992. Her love of teaching was a driving force in her life, second only to her love of family. Those students who were privileged to learn under Sarah’s direction readily acknowledge the positive impact she had on their lives.
ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible for the scholarship, student applicants must:
1) be a graduating senior at a high school in the Yuba-Sutter area.
2) plan to major in Education, English, or Liberal Studies at college
3) maintain a 2.3 GPA overall
4) show proof of acceptance into a 2 or 4 year college or university
Applications must be received by 5:00 pm (not postmarked by) March 19, 2025
WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT SCHOLARSHIP
This is a one-time award of up to $2,000 granted to a graduating high school senior seeking vocational training in an accredited technical, trade school or certificate program. Two and four year schools are not excluded.
ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible for the scholarship, student applicants must
1) be a graduating senior at a high school in the Yuba-Sutter area
2) maintain a 2.0 GPA overall
3) show proof of acceptance to an accredited technical or trade school program. (Majors that require a BS/BA are not eligible)
Applications must be received by 5:00 pm (not postmarked by) March 19, 2025.
LEBECK "RISE UP" SCHOLARSHIP
This is a $500 award for trade school or community college and $1,000.00 award for 4 year university to be granted to a graduating high school senior from Yuba City High School, River Valley High School, Albert Powell High School, or Feather River Academy. Adults who are attended one of these schools and hold a GED or HSET also qualify. This scholarship is to be awarded from an endowment grant donated by Steven and Gayle LeBeck.
ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible for the scholarship, student applicants must
1) be a graduating senior one of the high schools listed above or adults who attended one of these schools and hold a GED or HSET,
2) maintain a 2.0 GPA overall, and
3) show that, despite obstacles, students have the drive and perseverance to strive for further education and a better life. Obstacles might be such issues as a difficult family life, health, extreme poverty or homelessness, or a learning disability.
Applications must be received by 5:00 pm (not postmarked by) March 19, 2025.
LEBECK "RISE UP" renewal
This is a $500 award for trade school or community college and $1,000.00 award for a 4 year university for previous recipients of the LeBeck “Rise Up” Scholarship. This scholarship is to be awarded from an endowment grant donated by Steven and Gayle LeBeck.
ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible for the scholarship, student applicants must
1) be a former recipient of the LeBeck “Rise Up” Scholarship,
2) maintain a 2.0 GPA overall, and
3) show that, despite obstacles, students have the drive and perseverance to strive for further education and a better life. Obstacles might be such issues as a difficult family life, health, extreme poverty or homelessness, or a learning disability.

jordan kuphaldt memorial scholarship
This is a one-time $2,000 award to be granted to a graduating high school senior who plans to attend trade school or college.
Known as “Kooph'' by many of his peers, Jordan was a 2015 graduate of Yuba City High School. Although he was a standout athlete in both Tennis and Football, he will be remembered most for his strong work ethic and his positive, encouraging, and selfless demeanor. The scholarship committee will be considering all extracurricular activities, including work experience, community service involvement, school leadership, athletics, as well as financial responsibility.
ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible for the scholarship, student applicants must
1) be a graduating senior of Yuba City High School,
2) plan to attend trade school, college, or continuing education,
3) maintain a 2.0 GPA overall, and
4) show proof of acceptance into a trade school or 2 or 4 year college or university

SUTTER YUBA COMMUNITY FOUNDATION scholarship
The SYCF established this financial award to develop the talent and resources of our community. It is intended to assist graduation seniors and returning students embarking on post-secondary education or training programs. The financial awards may be applied to two- and four-year learning institutions and accredited career training programs. Awards will be up to $1500 and will be appropriate to the career and educational goals stated by applicant.
The scholarship award is open to any Sutter or Yuba County resident who intends to enroll in post high school training or college. Applicants must clearly indicate the award category in which they are applying and cannot apply in more than one category.
ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible for the scholarship, student applicants must
1) be a graduating senior at a high school in the Sutter-Yuba area or a returning student,
2) plan to attend trade school, college, or continuing education,
3) maintain a 2.0 GPA overall, and
4) show proof of acceptance into a trade school or 2 or 4 year college/university or accredited career training program.
